Project goals were to curate, edit, and design a publication sourcing essays, interviews, and work from a variety of credible online sources. Assignment goals include developing a grid system, creating dynamic layouts with contrast and clarity, and preparing documents for print. The project focused on a printed book version and a digital iPad prototype version.

Exploring Design & Space

The theme that I chose to explore for this publication was wayfinding. The cover features a play on the term, turning the phrase wayfinding into Wayfound. The title hovers within a multi-colored corridor as if beckoning the reader to continue inward into the publication to see what they may find.

The final printed book is 6" x 9" and 51 pages long.

Inside Spreads

Article Feature: Who Needs Signs?

Feature Spread: Place is Space with Meaning

The inside feature spread plays with directionality, exaggerated perspective, and pairing photographic imagery with typography and graphic shape. The scale and placement of text amplifies the depth of the image and visually communicates the meaning of the phrase. All of the typography within the publication itself features high x-height, sans serif fonts to mimic the style of typography one normally sees on wayfinding signage within buildings.
